The Pre-Arrival checklist equips new incoming international students with the necessary knowledge to have a successful start in their academic journey and college life at Oregon State University. New international students will receive a Welcome Email from Office of International Services upon their official admission to begin their required pre-arrival checklist.

If you are an INTO OSU served student, including International Direct, please contact intl.orientation@oregonstate.edu regarding the pre-arrival and class registration process.

Pre-Arrival Checklist Process

  1. Receive a Welcome Email from OIS upon official admission
  2. Login in with your ONID to your IP Connect account
  3. Locate 'Requests' and select 'New Student Pre-Arrival Checklist'

Upon completion of the Pre-Arrival checklist, you will receive a link to sign up for START, academic orientation and registration.

Exchange students:

Follow the instructions from the Incoming Exchange Coordinator Tavia Mendez.

Graduate students:

Follow your graduate program's advice for your registration.

You may wish to view course descriptions before you register for classes.

By participating in the International Student Orientation, you will gain essential information about:

  • immigration rules and regulations that affect your visa status

  • student health services and health insurance requirements at OSU

  • academic life at OSU

  • campus and community resources

  • opportunities to meet other new international and domestic students at OSU

  • advising and registration

All new students will receive an email with instructions specific to their program. Check your personal and OSU email frequently to learn more about your specific program or student type orientation.

Students billed directly through OSU will have an orientation fee added to their student account to cover the cost of orientation. Students billed through INTO OSU, including first-year undergraduates with International Direct services, have this fee included in their tuition.

Immigration document check is required for all incoming international and exchange students in all OSU and INTO OSU programs. Make sure to monitor your OSU email address - you can begin working on your immigration document check as soon as you receive an email from our office. Plan to arrive for the first day of orientation and attend an Immigration Document Check session where we will review your immigration documents with an International Student Advisor.

All newly admitted international students are required to attend orientation and immigration document check-in. If you are not able to arrive in the US by the orientation date, please be sure to complete the International Student Orientation module in Canvas. Also, make sure to submit copies of your immigration documents in IP Connect. Please refer to the Late Arrivals Policy to determine if you will still be able to register for the term if you arrive late. Contact the International Student Orientation Team at Intl.Orientation@oregonstate.edu if you have questions.
