Specialist Category

The Specialist category within the Exchange Visitor program are for experts in a field of specialized knowledge or skills who provide opportunities to increase the exchange of ideas with collaborative counterparts at Oregon State University. This category is for foreign nationals who are experts in a field of specialized knowledge or skill, coming to the United States for observing, consulting, or demonstrating their special skills.

What Positions are Eligible?

The program must:

  • Require the interchange of knowledge and skills by observing, consulting or demonstrating the specialist’s special knowledge or skills
  • Not fill a permanent or long-term position of employment

 

Who is Eligible?

Exchange visitors must:

  • Be experts in a field of specialized knowledge or skill
  • Not be eligible for another exchange visitor category
Length of the Status

The minimum program length of this category is 3-weeks for up to 12-months.
